CITAC was established in 2001, it was under the Caritas Community & Higher Education Service until March 31, 2014. The nature of work at CITAC has no longer linked with education. Over the past twelve years, CITAC has evolved into a professional I.T. Advancement Centre in providing professional IT services to the Catholic Church, Caritas and other organisations including the HKSAR Government. Our developed systems cover from "womb" to "tomb"; from producing a baptism certificate, marriage certificate to management of Catholic education, community education systems. CITAC also develops Hospital Information Systems for Canossa Hospital (Caritas) and Precious Blood Hospital (Caritas), the Catholic Cemetery system takes care of the burial information of our cemeteries.

On April 1, 2014, CITAC was delinked from the community education service. It has its own status quote as an independent I.T. Advancement Centre under the direct supervision of the Deputy Chief Executive of Caritas, Fr. Joseph Yim. The Head of CITAC is Mr. Alan Young who has established CITAC back in 2001.
